Soccer Game Preview: La Vernia vs. Yoakum

La Vernia has gone 8-1 against Yoakum recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The La Vernia Bears will face off against the Yoakum Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. La Vernia is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Friday, La Vernia made easy work of San Antonio Memorial and carried off a 4-1 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Yoakum has been struggling as of late, and they have yet to win a game this season. They and Gonzales finished up their game with a 1-1 draw on Friday. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Bulldogs' first draw of the season.

La Vernia's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. Yoakum's draw gives them a new season record of 0-8-1.

La Vernia took their win against Yoakum in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1. In that contest, La Vernia amassed a halftime lead of 7-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
