Softball Game Preview: Roland Park Country Reds vs. St. Paul's Girls Gators

The Roland Park Country Reds will head out to square off against the St. Paul's Girls Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roland Park Country has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Roland Park Country barely beat Annapolis Area Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Reds blew past the Eagles 21-11 on Monday. The Reds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Mia Rosengarten, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Hailey Cohen, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Roland Park Country always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, St. Paul's Girls fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Maryvale Prep on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Maryvale Prep by a score of 5-4. The Gators' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

With the victory, Roland Park Country broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for St. Paul's Girls, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Roland Park Country might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from St. Paul's Girls when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Reds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
