Softball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Falcons vs. Vista del Lago Eagles

Christian Brothers hasn't had much luck against Vista del Lago recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Christian Brothers turned things around against Rio Americano on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Raiders a 10-0 shutout.

Annika DeWaal looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Taylor Jernigan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Machenzie Aurich, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Christian Brothers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Vista del Lago, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Bella Vista on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Alayna Piexoto looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison McCulloch, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Morgan Hayhurst was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Vista del Lago's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Christian Brothers, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
