Softball Recap: Boiling Springs Gets the Win

While Boiling Springs's victory against Wade Hampton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Boiling Springs had just enough and edged out Wade Hampton 15-13. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won four in a row.

Chloe Sloand made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since March 1st.

In other batting news, Boiling Springs got a massive performance out of Cloey Taulbee, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Taulbee a new career-high. Brylee Osteen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Boiling Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Boiling Springs' victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Wade Hampton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boiling Springs will host Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wade Hampton, they will welcome James F. Byrnes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. James F. Byrnes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Wade Hampton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
