Basketball Recap: Bertie Skates Past North East Carolina Prep with Ease

Bertie won the last time they faced North East Carolina Prep and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bertie Falcons breezed by the North East Carolina Prep Husky to the tune of 72-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Bertie had a senior duo take command as Tayvien Ward went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points along with five boards and five steals and Zymiere Dempsey went 12 of 18 en route to 29 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Dempsey's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damilliyon Mabine, who posted six points.

Bertie pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.8 points. As for North East Carolina Prep, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4.

Bertie will take on Washington County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Bertie likes a good challenge. As for North East Carolina Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North East Carolina Prep is facing Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at the right time seeing as Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
