Preview: Covington Trojans vs. Seeger Patriots
Covington is 8-2 against Seeger since March of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Covington Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Seeger Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Covington will be strutting in after a win while Seeger will be coming in after a loss.
Covington entered their tilt with Fountain Central with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Covington had just enough and edged Fountain Central out 47-44.
It was another big night for Coye Ferguson, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Curt Slider, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Seeger was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 52-51 to Frontier.
Despite the defeat, Seeger got a solid performance out of Ayden Winchester, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Winchester hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Tyler Harris was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Covington now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Seeger, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Covington came up short against Seeger when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 47-42. Can Covington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
