Baseball Recap: Sheridan Takes a Loss

Sheridan had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Rossville Hornets, falling 10-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blackhawks of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Sheridan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Alexander, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Rossville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

On Rossville's side, they let AJ Kelley and Evan Mcdonald run wild. Kelley went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Mcdonald went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Mcdonald a new career-high. Ashton Abbott was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Coincidentally, Sheridan and Rossville will both be playing Carroll the next time they take the field. The Blackhawks will host the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Hornets will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
