Football Recap: Capitol Takes a Loss

Capitol had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it six. They were dealt a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Slaughter Community Charter Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 49-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

As for Slaughter Community Charter, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 53.3 points this season.

Slaughter Community Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty'Kimion Ford, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 20 yards and one TD. Ford's longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Carson Baxter was another key rusher, rushing for 55 yards and one score on only six carries.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Capitol will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dunham at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Slaughter Community Charter, they will face off against Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Knights 0, the Vikings 11.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
