Baseball Game Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Copper Hills Grizzlies

For the second straight game, Corner Canyon will face off against Copper Hills. The Chargers will welcome the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Corner Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Corner Canyon got the win against Copper Hills by a conclusive 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Jacob Troast spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nathan Horstmann, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Corner Canyon's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Drew Whatcott was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
