Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Gray Starts Season with Victory Against Central Pointe Christian Academy

IMG Academy Gray took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over the Central Pointe Christian Academy CPCA. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Ascenders also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Norm Cherrett looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Troy Carpenter, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Johnson Dubose, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Central Pointe Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IMG Academy Gray is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central Pointe Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Tohopekaliga at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
