Softball Game Preview: Harper Longhorns vs. Goldthwaite Eagles

For the second straight game, Harper will face off against Goldthwaite. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Harper is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Goldthwaite just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7.

For Goldthwaite's part, Danika Macias made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Macias was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kenley Howard was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Rylee Greenway was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory (which was Goldthwaite's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Harper, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.
