Basketball Recap: Northwestern's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Northwestern can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 56-44 win over the Graham Local Falcons. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 54-31 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Leading Northwestern to victory were Crew Estep and Andrew Taylor. Estep dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards, while Taylor went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those 12 boards gave Estep a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason McDermott, who posted eight points and five assists.

Northwestern's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Graham Local, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Northwestern will take on North Union at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Graham Local, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-49 defeat against Miami East on the 4th.
