We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Tri-City Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Vista as Tri-City Christian made off with a 21-1 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 9.8 runs per game.
Gigi Villa tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Lilly Halverson and Kaedyn Ybarra did most of the damage at the plate: Halverson went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Ybarra scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most doubles Halverson has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Erykah Juarez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Tri-City Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .629. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Maranatha Christian can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They never let Guajome Park Academy get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Hannah Visser and Lillian Visser made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Visser pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lillian struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Hannah has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Visser scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Lillian scored five runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Lillian also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nadia Hernandez, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. Aviana Werner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Maranatha Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Tri-City Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
