Recap: Timpson Bears vs. Shelbyville Dragons
The Timpson Bears put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 61-0 victory over Shelbyville. Given Timpson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Shelbyville is ranked 649th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jj Garner was his usual excellent self, rushing for 269 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Garner's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards. Chris Nickleberry was another key contributor, rushing for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Shelbyville saw an underclassman step up: Hunter Harvey rushed for 121 yards.
Timpson's victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Shelbyville, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.
Timpson will take on Garrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garrison is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Shelbyville, they will head out on the road to face off against West Sabine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
