The Forsyth Home Educators Hawks will take on the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Forsyth Home Educators' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Asheboro Hybrid Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Forsyth Home Educators beat Chatham HomeSchool 5-1. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won three in a row.
Clarke Stem spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Colbie Faircloth was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Reece Jones, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Asheboro Hybrid Academy). They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over Shining Light Academy on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Landon Watson was a standout: he scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Asheboro Hybrid Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Boggess, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Asheboro Hybrid Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.2.
Forsyth Home Educators pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.
Forsyth Home Educators took their win against Asheboro Hybrid Academy in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
