Basketball Recap: Roncalli Royals vs. Greenwood Woodmen

The Roncalli Royals can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They took down Greenwood 55-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Roncalli also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Roncalli's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Greene, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Noah Schmaltz was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.

Jake Mosemann and Benjamin Hommell certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mosemann scored 13 points, while Hommell scored nine points along with two blocks.

Roncalli now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Greenwood, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roncalli will face off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Indianapolis Bishop Chatard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday. Greenwood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Flashes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Woodmen in Indiana (the Flashes are ranked 45th, while the Woodmen are ranked 236th).
