Basketball Recap: Fabrice Ndja's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monroe-Woodbury over Newburgh Free Academy

Monroe-Woodbury was the 48-46 winner over Newburgh Free Academy when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders fell to the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks 56-51. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monroe-Woodbury's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fabrice Ndja, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Monroe-Woodbury is 4-2 when Ndja posts eight or more boards, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Johnson, who posted 12 points.

Monroe-Woodbury's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Newburgh Free Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Coming up, Monroe-Woodbury will head out to take on Burke Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Newburgh Free Academy has already played their next game (against Red Hook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
