Softball Recap: Jacksonville Find Success

Jacksonville posted their closest win since April 20, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Glencoe Yellowjackets 9-8. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jacksonville got a massive performance out of Dailyn Wood, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Wood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacey Barnes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Jacksonville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. Glencoe is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Coming up, Jacksonville will host St. Clair County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glencoe, they will head out on the road to challenge Weaver at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Weaver is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
