Softball Preview: Argos Dragons vs. Winamac Warriors
The Argos Dragons are taking a road trip to face off against the Winamac Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Argos can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Tuesday. They fell just short of Culver Community by a score of 5-3. The Dragons have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Argos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adelyn Lewark, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Winamac beat Morgan Township 9-5 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Brooke Rausch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Rausch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corrin Combs, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Goodman, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
