Softball Game Preview: Jurupa Valley Jaguars vs. Colton Yellowjackets

The Jurupa Valley Jaguars will take on the Colton Yellowjackets at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Jurupa Valley put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They blew past Norte Vista 20-1. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Jaguars with their most commanding win of the season.

Samantha Amancio made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Padilla, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Enciso-Rios, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Jurupa Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Colton posted their closest win since February 21st on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Jurupa Hills, sneaking past 10-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

MALEAH JUAREZ was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of JOCELYN ORNELAS, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Jurupa Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Colton, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
