Volleyball Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

Mitchell came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since September 9th.

Mitchell was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Morgan Paetow and Reese Sauer, who picked up four kills apiece. Sauer also shared the team's lead in assists with Kapri Stover: they picked up five each. Paetow was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Mitchell has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Bayard on the 27th. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, they will welcome Southeast at 4:00 p.m. on October 3.
