Palo Verde had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Centennial Bulldogs by a score of 5-2 on Friday. The Panthers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ava Koenig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Palo Verde saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Kearnes, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Makayla Enriquez, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Palo Verde's victory bumped their record up to 24-0. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 19-14.

Centennial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Spanish Springs on the 16th. Hopefully Palo Verde paid attention to the Bulldogs' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
