Basketball Recap: Lifegate Christian Makes It 17 in a Row at Home

Lifegate Christian had won 16 straight home games dating back to last season and Anelyna Cavazos did her part to make it 17 on Tuesday. The Lifegate Christian Falcons claimed a resounding 66-17 victory over the Sunnybrook Christian Lions thanks in part to Cavazos, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Mendez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Despite the loss, Sunnybrook Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Davina Crowl posted seven points and four blocks.

Lifegate Christian's record is now 12-2. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Lifegate Christian will head out to challenge Salem Sayers Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Lifegate Christian's defense has only allowed 24.9 points per game this season, so Salem Sayers Baptist Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-38 defeat against Varsity Opponent on the 16th.
