Soccer Recap: Shelley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bonneville on Saturday, Shelley came back down to earth. The Russets fell just short of the Blackfoot Broncos by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. Shelley were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Blackfoot earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Miguel Chavez and Tristan Howell scored all four of Shelley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 29 goals.

Shelley's loss dropped their record down to 9-7-2. As for Blackfoot, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-4 record this season.

Shelley will face off against Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skyline will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last. As for Blackfoot, they will square off against Idaho Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blackfoot's defense better be ready for this one: Idaho Falls have averaged an impressive 3.6 goals per game this season.
