Baseball Recap: Woonsocket Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Woonsocket had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They put the hurt on the Mt. Pleasant Kilties with a sharp 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Villa Novans have won by exactly ten runs.

Braylon Guilbeault was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

In other batting news, CJ Bousquet was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Cesar Vazquez Jr. was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Woonsocket's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Woonsocket will host Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
