Central is a perfect 8-0 against Penn Cambria since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dragons will face off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Central will be strutting in after a win while Penn Cambria will be coming in after a defeat.
Central will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Greater Johnstown on Thursday. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Trojans. The game marked the Dragons' most dominant victory of the season.

Kailyn Gahagan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alexis Fetzer was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Rhodes was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Penn Cambria came up short against Tyrone on Thursday and fell 9-5.
Penn Cambria saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyse Rabatin, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Penn Cambria's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.
Central took their victory against Penn Cambria in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
