Soccer Game Preview: Copper Canyon vs. Sierra Linda

The Copper Canyon Aztecs will venture away from home to take on the Sierra Linda Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Copper Canyon sitting on three straight victories and Sierra Linda on four.

Last Wednesday, Copper Canyon beat Glendale 3-1. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Cardinals are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Copper Canyon hit Glendale with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Francisco Garcia, Anthony Ortiz, and Alonso Noriega.

Meanwhile, Sierra Linda kept a clean sheet against Paradise Valley on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Bulldogs have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sierra Linda has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those ten contests. As for Copper Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-4.

Copper Canyon came out on top in a nail-biter against Sierra Linda in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Copper Canyon repeat their success, or does Sierra Linda have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
