Basketball Recap: Tyson Forsey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cedar

Dixie won the last time they faced Cedar and things went their way on Friday too. The Dixie Flyers strolled past the Cedar Reds with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. Given the Flyers' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Reds are ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dixie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyson Forsey, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Forsey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zed Webber, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 21 points.

Cedar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hayden Kee, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Dixie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Cedar, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

When Dixie and Cedar next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Dixie will take on Crimson Cliffs and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Cedar will try to stop Hurricane's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
