Softball Recap: Waldport Wins Going Away Against Lowell

After losing to Lowell the last time they met, Waldport decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Irish blew past the Devils 20-8 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Irish.

The team relied heavily on Catharine McCarthy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Azura Prince, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Waldport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive games.

Waldport picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-9. As for Lowell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waldport will host Myrtle Point at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lowell, they will be playing at home against Yoncalla at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
