Volleyball Recap: Young Women's Leadership Academy Cardinals vs. Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins
Young Women's Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Griffins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 18-25, 25-23.
Kenzie Bush paced Young Women's Leadership Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Bush really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with nine. Mia Cruz controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Great Hearts Northern Oaks' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elizabeth Paulos led the charge by getting 27 digs and three aces. Paulos has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Dybdhahl, who had nine digs and two aces.
