Basketball Recap: Atchison County Comes Up Short

Atchison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rossville Bulldogs. The Tigers lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 78-16 score last time.

Despite the loss, Atchison County still got an impressive performance from Kinzee Bauerle, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The match was Bauerle's 11th in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Atchison County was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Rylee Dick continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rossville, putting up 24 points along with seven boards and four steals. Dick continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shyanne Haehn, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Atchison County's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Rossville, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Atchison County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-44 victory against Perry-Lecompton on the 31st. As for Rossville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 43-32 win against Jefferson County North on the 31st.
