Baseball Game Preview: Normal West Wildcats vs. Chelsea Hornets

The Normal West Wildcats will take on the Chelsea Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Normal West will be strutting in after a victory while Chelsea will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Normal West needed a bit of extra time to put away Limestone. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 6-1. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Chase Knuth, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Knuth is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Hart, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Chelsea fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Spain Park on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-3 to the Jaguars. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Aiden Hughes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Mack Breazeale was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Normal West's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Chelsea, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
