Baseball Recap: 19 Straight Home Wins for Desert Hills

Desert Hills won the last time they faced Hurricane and things went their way on Friday too. The Thunder put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-6 win. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Andrew Wiley tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Desert Hills got a massive performance out of Isaac Swanson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave Swanson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haigen Reed, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Desert Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hurricane only posted an OBP of .364.

Desert Hills pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Hurricane, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
