Softball Recap: Siegel Stars vs. Oakland Patriots
Siegel had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-10-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Oakland Patriots, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in March.
Auburn Karls made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
As for Oakland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.
On Oakland's side, Jazmyne Watkins was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Watkins has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Ellison, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Siegel will square off against Gordonsville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oakland, they will host Rockvale at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
