Baseball Recap: Quitman Takes a Loss

If Quitman was riding high fresh off their 12-3 takedown of Converse last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Quitman fell just short of the Weston Wolves by a score of 14-12 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolverines have suffered since February 14th.

Maddox Duck and Jake Potts did some serious damage despite the final result: Duck scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Potts went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Potts a new career-high. Asher Shultz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Quitman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Quitman now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Weston, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Quitman will look to defend their home field on Friday against Choudrant at 4:00 p.m. As for Weston, they are taking a road trip to challenge Calvin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
