Soccer Recap: Curtis Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rogers last Thursday, Curtis came back down to earth. The Vikings fell just short of the Olympia Bears by a score of 3-2 on Monday. Josiah Strom was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Israel Wambiru and Alex Leyva scored both of Curtis' goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Curtis' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2-1. As for Olympia, they pushed their record up to 6-1-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Curtis will challenge Emerald Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olympia, they will take on Yelm at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Olympia will be up against Yelm's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.22 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
