Baseball Recap: Coral Springs Comes Up Short

The matchup between Coral Springs and Cooper City on Thursday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Coral Springs Colts fell just short of the Cooper City Cowboys by a score of 12-11. If the Colts were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ruben Zuany made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Ryan Guthrie was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Coral Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Coral Springs moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Cooper City, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Coming up, Coral Springs will be playing at home against Dade Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Cooper City, they will take on Western at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Western also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.6 runs per game.
