Football Game Preview: Cypress Lakes Spartans vs. Magnolia Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Cypress Lakes Spartans will face off against the Magnolia Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cypress Lakes will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Cypress Springs, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Spartans blew past the Panthers 38-17 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted against the Panthers since September 22, 2018.

Cypress Lakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Theodis Fields, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of TDs. Fields also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Spartans are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-5 otherwise. Cypress Lakes also got help from Davion Griffin, who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Magnolia entered their tilt with Klein on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 38-22 win over the Bearkats. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Bearkats are ranked 205th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Lakes better focus on containing Cash Ferrell and Chase Lowery as the pair were huge in Magnolia's win. Ferrell gained 152 total yards, while Lowery threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Joseph Solomon was Lowery's top target, picking up 34 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The victory got Cypress Lakes back to even at 5-5. As for Magnolia, their record now sits at 9-1.
