Basketball Recap: 11 Straight Home Victories for Medgar Evers College Prep

There's no place like home for Medgar Evers College Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 61-59 win from a begrudging Medgar Evers College Prep squad.

Viera lost on Monday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Laali Franco, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmin Croom, who had 15 points.

Medgar Evers College Prep pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.2 points per game. As for Viera, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Medgar Evers College Prep and Prospect Heights will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Viera, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
