Volleyball Recap: Knox Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Da'miya Sherrod and Addison Sponaugle

Knox came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Morgan Township Cherokees. The Redskins were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cherokees from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-21, 25-18.

Addison Sponaugle and Da'Miya Sherrod certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sponaugle had 15 digs, while Sherrod had five digs and two aces. Sponaugle is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Autumn Nowatzke also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Lexi Rippe, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Knox has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Morgan Township, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Knox has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Westville on the 28th. As for Morgan Township, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Valparaiso on the 30th.
