Baseball Game Preview: Millikan Rams vs. Fountain Valley Barons

Millikan is a perfect 4-0 against Fountain Valley since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Millikan Rams will head out on the road to take on the Fountain Valley Barons at 11:00 a.m. Fountain Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Millikan, who comes in off a win.

Millikan not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024. They put the hurt on Compton with a sharp 13-0 victory. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Austin Brett looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Millikan is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Millikan let Adrian Ramirez and Xavier Kennard run wild. Ramirez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kennard scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Ramirez has posted since back in April of 2024. Connor Cassidy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach, and Huntington Beach kept the tradition alive. Fountain Valley fell just short of Huntington Beach by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.

Fountain Valley has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. Millikan moved to 4-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Millikan came out on top in a nail-biter against Fountain Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will Millikan repeat their success, or does Fountain Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
