Softball Game Preview: Barnesville Shamrocks vs. Monroe Central Seminoles

The Barnesville Shamrocks are taking a road trip to challenge the Monroe Central Seminoles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Barnesville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Monday, Barnesville was able to grind out a solid win over Buckeye Trail, taking the game 5-2. The five-run effort marked the Shamrocks' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Monroe Central didn't have quite enough to beat River on Monday and fell 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Seminoles have suffered against the Pilots since April 14, 2021.

Jauna McElroy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Barnesville's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Monroe Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Barnesville was able to grind out a solid win over Monroe Central in their previous meeting back in March, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shamrocks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
