Preview: Grapevine vs. Argyle
The Grapevine Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Argyle Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grapevine's last five matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Grapevine has not lost a match since January 11th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Denton 2-1.
Grapevine was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Tanner Anstis and
Ashwin Benegal, who scored both of Grapevine's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 14 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Argyle didn't have quite enough to beat Ryan on Tuesday and fell 2-1.
Grapevine's victory bumped their record up to 6-3-7. As for Argyle, they dropped their record down to 4-7-1 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything went Grapevine's way against Argyle when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as Grapevine made off with a 4-1 victory. With Grapevine ahead 3-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
