Emma Compton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Compton was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cora Belcher was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Shelby Maddox was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

What's more, Brehm gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Parks, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Acasia Cook also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Independence pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.3 runs this season. As for PikeView, their record is now 2-0.
