Football Game Preview: Abington Green Wave vs. Rockland Bulldogs

The Abington Green Wave will take on the Rockland Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Abington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Abington hadn't beaten Norwell on the road since October 29, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them last Friday. The Green Wave came out on top against the Clippers by a score of 21-14. The 21-point effort marked the Green Wave's lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Rockland came up short against Norwell on Friday and fell 34-22. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Clippers are ranked 47th).

Rockland has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points over those games. As for Abington, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Abington strolled past Rockland in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 38-20. Will the Green Wave repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
