Basketball Recap: Breathitt County Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Breathitt County took on Jackson City on Friday. Everything went the Breathitt County Bobcats' way against the Jackson City Tigers as the Breathitt County Bobcats made off with a 68-46 victory. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Austin Sperry, who went 12 for 19 on his way to 26 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Canaan Gross was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Sperry wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Breathitt County was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Breathitt County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 30.6% in those games and 29.3% outside of them. As for Jackson City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Breathitt County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-49 win against Menifee County on the 1st. Jackson City has also already played their next contest (against Elliott County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
