Baseball Game Preview: Cary Academy Chargers vs. East Wake Academy Eagles

The Cary Academy Chargers will challenge the East Wake Academy Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cary Academy will be strutting in after a victory while East Wake Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Cary Academy turned things around against Trinity Academy on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 6-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Cary Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rutger Jack, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Andrew Wessels also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, East Wake Academy came up short against Heritage on Friday, falling 10-2. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win got Cary Academy back to even at 4-4. As for East Wake Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cary Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Wake Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Cary Academy beat East Wake Academy 8-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. Will Cary Academy repeat their success, or does East Wake Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
