Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Evangelical Christian's 16th in Last 17 Outings

Evangelical Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 17-14 victory over the Geneva Knights on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Sentinels, who until this matchup were averaging 3.03 runs allowed.

Karsyn Mootz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Yzaguirre, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Evangelical Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive games.

Evangelical Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Geneva, they moved to 22-4 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Evangelical Christian nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
