Basketball Recap: Sartell-St. Stephen Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres lost to the Champlin Park Rebels on the road by a 68-51 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Sabres came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Rebels are ranked 271st).

Sartell-St. Stephen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Champlin Park, they moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sartell-St. Stephen will head out to take on Sauk Rapids-Rice at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sartell-St. Stephen is facing Sauk Rapids-Rice at the right time seeing as Sauk Rapids-Rice is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Champlin Park, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Elk River at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Champlin Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Elk River likes a good challenge.
