Basketball Recap: Hayesville Gets the Win

If Blue Ridge Early College wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hayesville, they should've done a better job of containing Breanna Abrams. The Hayesville Yellowjackets claimed a resounding 55-19 victory over the Blue Ridge Early College Bobcats thanks in part to Abrams, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bryleigh Krieger, who posted a point along with six boards and six steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four).

Despite the loss, Blue Ridge Early College saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklyn Kenney went 7 for 17 on her way to 14 points and six steals. That was a full 73.7% of Blue Ridge Early College's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Hayesville now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Blue Ridge Early College, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Hayesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-24 loss against Cherokee on the 31st. As for Blue Ridge Early College, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 88-25 defeat against Hiwassee Dam on the 31st.
